Commercialization of wave, tidal and in-stream power might seem like a distant idea right now, but then again, the same could be said of the internet to the 99.76% of the world's population that didn't have web access during HydroVision '94.

Youngwook Yoo is a MED Process Engineer for the Desalination Thermal Engineering team at Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction. In a session entitled “Thermal Desalination – Energy Optimization” Yoo will be presenting on how he helped to design and the operation of one of the largest MED (Multi-effect distillation) desalination plants not only in the Middle East, but in the world. Other papers will address renewable powered thermal desalination; upgrading of existing MSF (Multi-stage flash) desalination plants and a case study from Marafiq in Saudi Arabia.
