MANILA, Philippines, Feb. 10, 2010 -- Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) officials, led by General Manager Edgardo C. Manda, recently visited Maynilad's Putatan Water Treatment Plant for a familiarization tour of the state-of-the-art facility. According to Maynilad president Rogelio L. Singson, the Putatan Plant will not only bring clean, reliable, and affordable water to their customers in the South, it will also help mitigate the effects of El Niño on Metro Manila's water supply.
The Putatan Plant is scheduled to produce an initial 50 million liters of water per day (MLD) by May. It can increase its water production to 100 MLD by the end of 2010. The plant will serve over 20,000 households in Muntinlupa.
US firm Pall Corporation designed and installed the water treatment system in the Putatan Plant. Read more about the project >
Impurities, microscopic organisms, and total dissolved solids will be eliminated from the water through Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF), Microfiltration, Reverse Osmosis and chlorination. These processes will ensure that the water from the treatment plant meets the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) of the Department of Health (DOH).
