Orange County Water District solicits applications for board vacancy

Orange County Water District (OCWD) Thursday announced it is seeking applicants for a vacancy on its Board of Directors.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 18, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Orange County Water District (OCWD) Thursday announced it is seeking applicants for a vacancy on its Board of Directors.

The board vacancy will be filled by appointment by its board of directors. It is requested that a resume and letter of interest be submitted for consideration to the OCWD Board Secretary at 10500 Ellis Avenue, Fountain Valley, CA 92708. All resumes and letters must be received no later than Feb. 1, 2001.

Anyone interested in applying for this position must be a registered voter in the County of Orange and must live within Division 7 boundaries. Division 7 covers parts of the cities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Tustin and Westminster. Boundaries are very specific and can be obtained from the Registrar of Voters.

OCWD's Board is composed of 10 directors -- seven elected and three appointed -- representing cities in north and central Orange County. The Board is filling an elected board member vacancy created by the voluntary resignation of Kelly Rowe, former Division 7 Director. OCWD is a groundwater management agency serving more than two million residents in Orange County and meeting 60% of the county's water needs with groundwater.

The Orange County Water District is a special water agency created by the California Legislature in 1933 to maintain and manage the huge groundwater basin under northern Orange County. The groundwater basin managed by OCWD supplies 75% of the water needs to more than 2 million residents in the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Irvine, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Orange, Placentia, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, Stanton, Tustin, Villa Park, Westminster and Yorba Linda.
