City of Ventura adopts data management, customer service solutions to improve operations
Ventura, CA, has chosen a meter data management and customer engagement solution from Harris Utilities to improve operations.
Ottawa, ON, Sept. 18, 2013 --A meter data management (MDM) solution and customer engagement solution (CES), MeterSense and CustomerConnect from Harris Utilities, has been chosen by the city of Ventura, Calif., to realize operational efficiencies and improve customer service.
MeterSense is an advanced MDM solution that transforms raw smart meter data into valuable business intelligence and enables utilities to improve business processes and enhance customer service. CustomerConnect is a web-based data presentment tool that enables customers to access and interpret their consumption patterns, which helps them make smarter choices about resource use, reduce their bills and support utility conservation goals.
The city delivers water services to 30,000 meters and approximately 110,000 customers. Ventura selected MeterSense and CustomerConnect as part of its current integration of enQuesta, the utilities' customer information system (CIS) provided by Systems and Software, a division of Harris Utilities. MeterSense was chosen to help Ventura prepare for their planned advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) rollout. "We needed an MDM solution that would be AMI-agnostic" said Mary Landis, Customer Care Supervisor. "It was imperative that Ventura selected an MDM provider that has proven experience with all major AMI vendors and MeterSense had just that."
The city of Ventura plans to go live on MeterSense and CustomerConnect in early 2014. By rolling out the AMI project, the utility hopes to realize additional benefits from MeterSense and CustomerConnect including:
· Enabling Ventura staff to access meter information and trigger AMI actions from their existing customer service interface (enQuesta CIS), empowering customers to access their consumption and account information without support from their utility
· Engaging customers to be active in conservation efforts
· Providing an independent validation engine to support the Service Level Agreements that the AMI vendors will be contracted to execute
