McCrometer unveils next-gen Open Channel Software for utility monitoring
McCrometer announced on September 28, 2026, an early look at the upcoming launch of its new Open Channel Software, a cloud-based platform designed to help utilities gain greater visibility into their flow monitoring networks through cross-site analytics, system alerts, device diagnostics, and centralized fleet management.
The software represents the next evolution of McCrometer's digital monitoring platform, building on capabilities previously available through Hach FSDATA while delivering a more modern and integrated user experience for McCrometer’s open channel products.
McCrometer's new Open Channel Software is designed to provide a centralized, cloud-based dashboard for utility operators to monitor fleet status and track active alarms.
As wastewater and stormwater utilities face increasing regulatory requirements and growing demands on aging infrastructure, operators need faster access to reliable data across their monitoring networks. McCrometer's upcoming Open Channel Software is being designed to provide a centralized platform that enables collection system and plant operations managers to supervise hundreds of monitoring sites, visualize real-time flow conditions, monitor system alerts, and analyze performance across an entire network from a single interface.
The software is being developed to combine fleet visibility, measurement data, sensor diagnostics, flow analytics, and integration capabilities into one cloud-based system. Users can evaluate flow conditions across multiple locations simultaneously through advanced graphing tools that overlay data from monitoring sites throughout the network.
"Utilities are under increasing pressure to do more with less while maintaining compliance and ensuring the performance of critical infrastructure," said Makenzie Elepe, digital solutions manager at McCrometer, in a press release. "Our new Open Channel Software gives operators the visibility and intelligence they need to proactively manage their monitoring networks, reduce manual data collection efforts, and make more informed operational decisions based on necessary data."
Key capabilities include:
- Flow analytics and data visualization across active monitoring sites
- System alert monitoring to help operators quickly identify changing conditions in the field
- Fleet-level visibility into device diagnostics, uptime, and reporting status.
- Multi-site graphing that allows users to overlay and compare data from multiple monitoring locations
- Batch export functionality for compliance reporting and operational analysis
- REST API connectivity and integration with third-party systems along with compatibility with Hach Flow meters and sensors
By providing a holistic view of both remote flow data and fleet programming & diagnostics, the platform is expected to help utilities improve visibility across collection systems, reduce labor associated with manual data retrieval, support regulatory reporting requirements, and proactively identify conditions that could contribute to operational challenges, such as inflow and infiltration or sewer overflows, using flow data to forecast upcoming, high-stress weather events.
" At McCrometer, we are constantly innovating on what smart water infrastructure can achieve," said Meghan Phillips, vice president of marketing and strategy at McCrometer, in a press release. "By advancing our core technology to meet the evolving demands of wastewater utilities, we give operators the reliable, data-driven insights they need to run more efficient and sustainable systems."
The software is being validated through deployments at both internal and external monitoring sites and aims to support utilities' digital transformation initiatives through modern cloud connectivity, advanced analytics, and streamlined data access.
