March 9, 2015 -- Today, Watson-Marlow Pumps Group announced that it has changed its name to Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group to better reflect the evolution of the company from its roots as a manufacturer of niche peristaltic pumps and tubing to its current position as a specialist in fluid path technology.
Watson-Marlow now encompasses seven distinct brands which, combined, deliver a complete suite of fluid technology solutions to the biopharmaceutical, industrial, food and beverage, mining, environmental, and OEM market sectors. The name change follows the recent acquisition of BioPure, which signaled the company's strategic move to offer a wider range of solutions to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical markets.
Watson-Marlow has moved beyond its traditional peristaltic pump business through selective product and market sector diversification, highlighted by the additions of MasoSine (sinusoidal pumps for use in the food and beverage sector), Flexicon (filling systems and associated equipment, used in the biopharmaceutical aseptic filling sector), BioPure (aseptic tubing connection systems, used in the biopharmaceutical process sector), and non-pump transfer tubing development.
