NEW ORLEANS, LA – Water technology company Xylem has unveiled its wastewater pumping system with integrated intelligence to the US market.
Launched at IFAT earlier this year (read WWi story), the smart, interconnected wastewater pumping system from Xylem’s Flygt brand senses the operating conditions of its environment, adapts its performance in real time and provides feedback to pumping station operators.
The system was unveiled to the US market for the first time at WEFTEC, taking place this week in New Orleans.
Flygt Concertor is suitable for use with wastewater pumps in the range of 3 – 10 HP and has a system design that combines IE4 motor efficiency, Adaptive N-hydraulics, integrated power electronics and intelligent controls.
The pump features built-in sump and pipe-cleaning functionality. Extensive trials show that these features, together with a second generation of Flygt’s patented Adaptive N-technology and an integrated pump-cleaning function, minimize vacuum cleaning costs, according to Xylem.
When tested at a pumping station in Heathrow Airport, the combined performance of these functionalities successfully eliminated regular clogging issues and kept the sump clean.
Tomas Brannemo, president of Xylem’s Transport business, said: “Flygt Concertor represents a step-change in sustainable wastewater management solutions, with unparalleled pumping efficiency and reliability as well as a lower overall cost of ownership. It significantly advances the wastewater pumping sector by simplifying the entire pumping process from selection, installation, commissioning and monitoring with the added bonus of a smaller footprint.”
Ian Jolly, systems specialist for water, Heathrow Airport Water Services Department, said: “Since installing Concertor we have had absolutely no clogging and the sump remains clean. As well as peace of mind, the cost savings are approximately 87.5% of the annual costs in cleaning and servicing.”
North of New Orleans, in St. Tammany Parish, the Concertor field trial resulted in significant energy savings, approaching $1000/month on an annualized basis, Xylem said.
