ERLANGER, KY, Nov. 28, 2006 -- An InLine 400+ medium pressure UV system from Aquionics' Dutch sister company is helping the Delfland Water Board in the Netherlands disinfect effluent, which is then re-used as process water for cleaning and dilution. The system was installed at Delfland's Nieuw Waterweg Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the Hoek van Holland region of the country.
According to the Water Board, the InLine 400+ system was selected as it is more effective than chlorine against waterborne microorganisms such as E. coli; it removes the need to handle and store dangerous chemicals; and is reliable, safe, easy to use and maintain.
Another major advantage of the Aquionics unit is that it uses a stepless power supply, which means significantly lower energy costs and longer lamp life than alternative methods.
All Aquionics InLine+ systems are compact and can be fitted into existing pipework with minimal disruption. They also have automated wiping systems, which keep the quartz sleeves surrounding the UV lamps clean. This means no chemicals are needed for cleaning, and wiping takes place automatically during normal operation, without requiring a by-pass unit.
Aquionics (www.aquionics.com), a Halma Group Company, is a market leader in the manufacture, application and development of UV technology for progressive, non-chemical disinfection and microbiological control. The company's systems are used in a wide variety of applications worldwide, including water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical manufacture, food and beverage production, microelectronics and pool disinfection.
