ALTOONA, Sept. 29, 2000 (Public Works)—The Altoona, Penn. Water and Sewer Authority has chosen Navigant Consulting, Inc. to provide GIS support services to expand administration of the city's water and sewer system.
Navigant's Spatial IT Solutions group is performing the work from its Pittsburgh office.
Under the contract, the consultant is implementing Cityworks software from Azteca Systems, and integrating it with the authority's GIS.
The software has features that are specifically designed for water and wastewater systems, including comprehensive work management systems that enhance a utility's ability to process work orders and respond to customer service needs. The software has extensive inventory modules that allow a utility to organize, manage, and track current and historical work data.
The software can also generate customized reports, monitor water pressure analysis functions, and improve customer service. The authority's GIS is based on ArcView software from ESRI (Redlands, California). Navigant is also proving training services to Altoona.
