WALNUT CREEK, CA, April 14, 2003 - Synergen, Inc. (www.synergen.com) a leading provider of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) solutions has announced that the City and County of Honolulu is live with the Synergen Series at the Department of Environmental Services' (ENV) wastewater collection, maintenance, treatment and disposal systems on the island of Oahu.

The City and County of Honolulu's island-wide system processes more than 41 billion gallons of wastewater annually via 65 wastewater pump stations, eight (8) wastewater treatment plants, four (4) preliminary treatment facilities and 1900 miles of sewer lines.

Replacing outdated mainframe systems, the Synergen Series became ENV's first EAM/CMMS solution, which also integrates with the City's Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) process control system, as well as a state-of-the-art geographic information system (GIS) system tracking more than 500,000 separate sewer lines and manholes, further leveraging the City's geospatial assets supported by ESRI's ArcGIS(r).

"We're impressed by Synergen's innovative GIS capabilities and their proven ease-of-use, both as a product and a company," said Tim Houghton, executive assistant for ENV. "Synergen is assisting us on several fronts including enhancing effective operation and maintenance planning for our plants and collection system and integrating that into our 20 year sewer and facility capital program."

Synergen's Web-architected CMMS/EAM software suite, the Synergen Series, addresses all aspects of MRO including: collaborative work management, asset reliability and maintenance; inventory control, purchasing, and contract management; operational accounting; reporting and analysis; project tracking; safety and regulatory compliance; and document control. Supported by the latest in Internet technology, users need only a standard Web browser to rapidly install, deploy and access Synergen solutions across the enterprise.

The City and County of Honolulu (www.co.honolulu.hi.us) serves a population of approximately 800,000 within an area of 596 square miles. Originally founded as the County of Oahu on July 1, 1905, it was renamed City and County of Honolulu two years later. Wastewater operations began in 1901.
