SACRAMENTO, Calif., Jan. 12, 2001 — Hansen Information Technologies is pleased to announce that the City of Americana, S�Paulo, Brazil has gone live with Hansen's Asset Management solution to manage the day-to-day operations and customer service activities of the City's Department of Water and Sewer Services.
Hansen's South American Distributor, Videosan Saneamento Instrumental Ltd was responsible for the implementation which included project management, data conversion, and training.
The city's decision to contract with Hansen is in response to their continuing efforts to increase productivity and operating efficiencies of their water and sewer networks. In addition to overseeing the Department of Water and Sewer Service's piping infrastructure, this new system will manage both the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants. Ronald A. Silva, the Department's director, commented: "After considering all of the alternatives, Hansen's solution is the product that best met our needs to optimize and control these vital resources."
Americana is using Portuguese versions of Hansen's Customer Service, Water, Wastewater, and Plant modules to manage over 55,000 water and 39,000 sewer accounts through a complex network of 472 miles of water mains and 407 miles of sewage lines. In the future the city intends to build a rehabilitation plan for further reductions of water losses and I/I, increased customer service, as well as helping them to solve their biggest problem - cost effectively dealing with small and polluted water sources. Over 25 City employees are currently using the system.
