Black & Veatch shuffles executive leadership posts

OVERLAND, KS, Oct. 10, 2005 -- Black & Veatch Corp. announced that Dean Oskvig, chief operating officer of B&V Energy, the company's global Energy business, will become president and CEO of B&V Energy effective Jan. 1.

B&V Energy is the company's largest business. It provides engineering, technology, consulting and construction solutions that span the lifecycle of global projects in the power generation, power delivery and hydrocarbon process industries. B&V Energy is expected to double its revenues in the next three years.

Oskvig, who joined the company in 1975, has held several executive leadership roles at Black & Veatch, including President of Power Delivery, and his current role as COO of B&V Energy.

"Dean is a strong leader who has been influential in developing global business strategies that have helped guide our businesses to profitable growth," said Len C. Rodman, Chairman, President and CEO of Black & Veatch. "He is one of our most versatile and flexible executive leaders, as well as one of the most highly respected. His broad skills and talents have enabled him to participate and contribute in wide-ranging roles, from strategic planning and analysis, to mentoring future leaders and managing of some of our most complex infrastructure projects. With the expansive growth that's projected for global Energy markets, he will be an excellent leader to guide our business to new levels of performance."

In a related action, the company's Board of Directors selected three senior executives to serve as Executive Directors on the Board: Karen Daniel, Chief Financial Officer; Dan McCarthy, President and CEO of B&V Water; and Dean Oskvig. Their nominations will be presented for approval at the company's annual stockholders meeting in April 2006. Daniel joined Black & Veatch in 1992; McCarthy joined the company in 1976.

Ron Wood, the current president and CEO of B&V Energy and member of the company's Board of Directors, will retire from the company in February 2006. With his retirement, Wood will also leave his role on the Board.

"He has been instrumental in driving successful growth strategies in several of our business lines and his guidance and development of our professionals has produced many strong leaders who carry on his legacy of leadership."

About the Leaders
Karen Daniel, Chief Financial Officer -- In her role as CFO, Daniel leads the company's global financial functions including treasury, tax, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and business systems. She manages relationships with key financial partners and establishes corporate financial policies. Daniel also chairs the company's Investment Review Board and is a member of the company's Corporate Strategic Planning Committee.

Dan McCarthy, President and CEO, B&V Water -- Prior to becoming president and CEO of B&V Water, the company's global Water business, McCarthy first managed the Midwest Region and then the Americas Division of the Water business. In addition to his executive positions, he has served on several strategic task forces including the company's Strategic Planning Committee.

Dean Oskvig, Chief Operating Officer, B&V Energy -- As COO, Oskvig manages operations for the company's global Energy business including its seven primary business lines: coal; air quality control; combustion turbine; power delivery; gas, oil and chemicals; nuclear; and consulting engineering services. In addition to holding several executive positions, he has served on many strategic task forces addressing business development, corporate planning and several growth initiatives.

Ron Wood, President and CEO, B&V Energy -- As the leading executive for the company's Energy business, Wood provides leadership and vision in developing business strategies to achieve revenue growth and value creation and increase the company's market share in global energy markets. Wood previously held executive leadership positions including president of the Energy Engineering & Construction Division and president of the company's Power Delivery and Telecommunications businesses.
