The $1.765 billion design-build Northeast Water Purification Plant (NEWPP) expansion project will add 320 million gallons per day of drinking water for the City of Houston, substantially increasing the current 80 million gallons per day of treated water capacity.
One important tool behind the project uses digital twin technology to model NEWPP’s entire treatment process. This modelling tool helps to predict operational parameters and plan for “what if” scenarios.
In this interview Qianru Deng, supervising engineer for Carollo, talks about the digital twin’s development and uses.
