Updates scope of work to $7.8M annually over the next 10 years.

BUFFALO, NY -- Continuing a partnership that has led to greater efficiency, cost-effectiveness and sustainability, the City of Buffalo, N.Y., decided to renew its operations & maintenance contract with Veolia North America to continue providing safe drinking water services to a population of more than 250,000 people.

The City has decided to renew its water contract with VNA for another 10 years at a cost of over $7.8 million per year. The partnership began in 2010, and since then VNA has brought its expertise, experience and resources to a system that produces 70 million gallons of clean drinking water per day distributed across a network of more than 900 miles of water pipes, two intake stations, a filtration plant and two pump stations.

In the last ten years, VNA has introduced numerous upgrades within the City’s water system, which is fed by Lake Erie. VNA’s innovations include automation of the monitoring of the distribution network and the treatment plant, helping extend the life and efficiency of a system that routinely endures extreme winter weather conditions. These efforts have helped the project win recognition for its success, including the prestigious Diamond Pin Award from the American Water Works Association.
