Southwest Water subsidiary renews contracts with Georgia Department of Corrections

Southwest Water Co.'s subsidiary, Operations Technologies, has received a six-year renewal of its water and wastewater operations contracts from the Georgia Department of Corrections.

WEST COVINA, Calif., Sept. 15, 2003 -- Southwest Water Co. has announced that its subsidiary, Operations Technologies Inc. (OpTech), has received a six-year, $1 million renewal of its water and wastewater operations contracts from the Georgia Department of Corrections. The renewed contracts, at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville and Lee State Prison in Leesburg, both in southern Georgia, were awarded after an open competition.

Anton C. Garnier, Southwest Water president and chief executive officer, said, "We are extremely pleased with the Georgia Department of Corrections renewal. It enables OpTech to maintain a diverse client base, which also includes municipal, industrial and federal clients. Moreover, it continues a strategic relationship with the State of Georgia that began in 1996."

Since joining the Southwest Water group of companies in 2001, OpTech has broadened Southwest Water's market presence in the southern U.S. with water, wastewater and public works contracts in Mississippi and Georgia. The company is headquartered in Atlanta.
