The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) has announced $53 million in Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) loans for wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
NDDEQ awarded three loans for sanitary and storm sewer projects to three separate entities through the CWSRF Program in March:
Metro Flood Diversion Authority was awarded a $51,634,000 CWSRF loan towards an in-town flood protection system. The project will upgrade sixteen storm lift stations throughout the City of Fargo, which are required components of the comprehensive flood protection for the Fargo-Moorhead metro area. This project will ensure the safe transmission of stormwater for the residents.
Strasburg received a $1,326,000 CWSRF loan towards the construction of three lagoon cells for wastewater treatment and the addition of 3,600 linear feet of force main and modifications to the lift station. This project will provide for the safe reclamation of sanitary sewer water.
Elgin received a $340,000 CWSRF loan towards replacing a sanitary sewer main and manholes with a new sanitary sewer main. This project will improve system reliability for customers.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the CWSRF Program funding, offering below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act. CWSRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our vital water resources.
