WEST PALM BEACH, FL, Nov. 5, 2010 -- Water managers are criticizing a court-ordered federal plan to speed up and expand the effort to clean up the Everglades.

South Florida Water Management District executives submitted letters outlining a list of objections to a federal plan to almost double the area of marshes used to absorb phosphorous.

They say the plan infringes on state rights to set water quality law, set an unrealistic time frame for construction, and would place an unreasonable burden on South Florida taxpayers.
