Public comment sought on plan for central Arizona water distribution project

PHOENIX, AZ, Mar. 9, 2009 -- Water Reclamation is seeking public comments on its draft Environmental Assessment on the proposed Community Water Company water distribution system and recharge facility. The proposed project would allow delivery and use of CWC's Central Arizona Project entitlement of 2,858 acre-feet per year for its service area within the upper Santa Cruz basin.

The CAP water would be conveyed through a pipeline to be constructed to an artificial recharge facility located east of CWC's water service area, where the CAP water would be stored underground.

Reclamation will hold a public meeting to receive oral comments regarding the adequacy of the draft EA on Mar. 26, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A court reporter will be present to provide a verbatim transcription of formal comments heard at this meeting.
