GAF to provide consulting services for Water Resources Management Information System in Mozambique

MUNICH, JULY 16, 2018 -- GAF AG, based in Munich, together with its partner AHT, from Essen, has been awarded the contract for developing the National Integrated Water Resources Management Information System (NIWRMIS) in Mozambique.

The consulting services include a diagnosis of existing systems, user requirements consolidation for the NIWRMIS, the design and implementation of the NIWRMIS, including the data and hardware configuration, the capture, validation and migration of data to NIWRMIS, the integration of a decision support system and also institutional strengthening and know-how transfer measures.

GAF is proud to provide experienced and competent experts for this challenging project. The project team combines skills in IT and systems (system and software engineering, programming, GIS and databases) together with thematic expertise in domains such as hydrology, water quality and modelling. The project duration is 2 years plus a 1-year maintenance phase, and the total volume amounts to 1.1 million Euro. The project activities are scheduled to start in Maputo in June 2018.

The contract award for NIWRMIS follows a number of successful projects in Europe, Africa and Asia where GAF has set-up best-in-class, nationwide geoinformation systems.”

The contract has been awarded by the Government of Mozambique and the work will be performed for the National Directorate of Water Resources Management (DNGRB) as part of the National Water Resources Development Project (NWRDP). The project is funded by the Strategic Climate Fund managed by the World Bank.
