NEW MEXICO -- The US Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $45.9M contract to Arizona-based Archer Western Construction to build two pumping plants for the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project in New Mexico.
The project has been designed to provide water supply for 43 chapters on the Navajo Reservation, the southwest area of the Jicarilla Apache Reservation, and the City of Gallup, N.M.
The project will feature nearly 300 miles of pipeline, two water treatment plants, 19 pumping plants, and multiple water storage tanks.
Archer Western will be responsible for the construction of Tooh Haltsooi Pumping Plant near the community of Sheep Springs and Bahastl’ah Pumping Plant near the communities of Twin Lakes and Coyote Canyon.
“Today, we take another step to provide clean, reliable water supplies to the Navajo Nation and the other project participants in rural communities," Reclamation Commissioner Brenda Burman said. "These pumping plants will help deliver water from the San Juan River to communities along the San Juan Lateral pipeline.”
The scope of the contract includes installation of canned vertical turbine pumps as well as associated electrical and mechanical equipment.
