THOMASVILLE, Ga., Sept. 29, 2000 — Englewood Water District of Englewood, Fla. recently awarded USFilter a $3.5 million contract to expand its current wastewater treatment facility, originally installed by USFilter's Davis Products.
In 1996, Englewood Water District and USFilter's Davis Products planned ahead for the 3.3 percent annual growth, the gradual elimination of all septic systems, and the future connection of all these water customers to the sanitary sewer system. And now that the future is here, expansion is not a problem.
USFilter's Davis Products will supply 1 million gallons per day --(MGD) extended aeration/nitrification process treatment plant to complement the existing 1.2-MGD (109 m3/h) facility. The expansion will also incorporate a new 2.2 MGD GravisandTM XCELLTM traveling bridge filter.
In addition, an existing concrete treatment plant will be retrofitted into an influent wetwell and surge tank, complete with static screening. The expansion construction is targeted to begin February 2001.
Englewood Water District oversees the operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater services in Englewood and the surrounding area. The district also provides wastewater collection and treatment for its water customers connected to the sanitary sewer system.
