Pennsylvania American Water announced Wednesday that it has completed the acquisition of the water assets of Rustic Acres Water Association.

HERSHEY, Pa., Oct. 1, 2003 -- Pennsylvania American Water announced Wednesday that it has completed the acquisition of the water assets of Rustic Acres Water Association.

"Today, we celebrate the beginning of a new partnership between the employees at Pennsylvania American and our newest customers in Lehman Township," said Robert M. Ross, president and CEO. The transaction expands Pennsylvania American's water customer base by more than 150 customers in Pike County.

"It's a great fit for Pennsylvania American," said Ross. "We are the regional provider of water and wastewater service in the area." The company acquired Lehman Pike Water and Sewer Company and Mid-Monroe Water Company in 2002, and has two other systems under agreement to be purchased, which serve Winona Lakes and the Country Club of the Poconos. Pennsylvania American is the largest regulated water and wastewater service provider in the state serving more than 2 million residents statewide.

"For the Rustic Acres customers, the transition will be transparent," said Ross. "We are committed to providing our new customers with the same high level of service and quality water our current customers are accustomed to receiving."

New customers to Pennsylvania American will also benefit from the Company's state-of-the-art Customer Service Center, which is staffed with customer service representatives 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Customers can also take advantage of Pennsylvania American's Automatic Payment Program, whereby customers can save time and money by paying for their water services directly from their checking or savings account.

"Completing the purchase of Rustic Acres is cause for celebration," said Ross. "Our team of professionals is ready and committed to meeting the needs of all of our customers today and in the years to come."
