LONDON, ENGLAND, Dec. 9, 2013 -- CH2M HILL, a consulting, design, construction and operations firm, was recently recognized for its involvement with and contribution toward innovative tunnelling design, including the areas of water and wastewater, in varying locations across the globe.
The company won three International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association awards at the NCE International Tunnelling Awards event in London, England, on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and was named Global Tunnelling Design Firm of the Year. The company's work was also recognized in the Technical Innovation and Environmental Initiative categories.
The District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority's Blue Plains Tunnel was honored in the Technical Innovation of the Year category, with CH2M HILL as the lead designer of this design-build project, working for the Traylor, Skanska, Jay Dee Joint Venture. Likewise, the National Grid Cable Tunnels project also won Environmental Initiative of the Year, with CH2M HILL as the lead designer.
