ACWA Emirates, part of the ACWA Group, a leading international water and wastewater solutions provider, has appointed Fadey Kassim to the role of Chief Officer for corporate sales and strategy to drive growth in the Middle East markets primarily and also to look at other international opportunities.
Kassim’s immediate focus will be on consolidating market opportunities for ACWA’s tried and tested solutions for water quality, wastewater and in particular water reuse, an increasing issue for municipal and industrial organisations across the Middle East region and globally.
Central to this is the company’s market leading membrane bio-reactor (MBR) solution MEMTREAT®, now deployed in over 45 sites, including one of the world’s largest MBR treatment plants at Al Ansab in Oman. Kassim will also be offering a portfolio of conventional and advanced technologies for air, water, wastewater and sludge treatment solutions, for both the municipal, industrial and oil and gas sectors.
Previously Chief Operating Officer at Aqualyng, a specialist in desalination and wastewater solutions, Kassim brings over 18 years’ water industry experience covering engineering, business development, utility planning and major project delivery across a range of globally diverse locations.
This includes major EPC and concession projects inclusive of funding and equity partners for water industry projects in Asia, combined with wide business experience in Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and other emerging markets. Prior to Aqualyng, Kassim served as client representative for Palm Water in Dubai managing the development of a range of water infrastructure projects on the UAE Palm Jumeriah archipelago.

ACWA, which celebrates 30 years in business during 2016, is also establishing a new division solely focussed on new product and technology development to address the increasingly challenging issues facing the water industry. This will include the deployment of specialist niche technologies such as the company’s successful AMTREAT® (Ammonia removal in sludge centrate liquors) and NITREAT® (Nitrate removal in potable water) solutions to other global markets, where Kassim’s international experience will be a key contributor.
